Ketoprofen

Composition

Each ml contains Ketoprofen BP 100 mg.

Description

Ketoprofen injection is a potent, non-narcotic, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Ketoprofen is a US FDA-approved NSAID, highly effective in alleviating pain, inflammation, and fever in dairy animals; it is a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis, inhibiting the biosynthesis of PGE₂ and PGF₂α without affecting the PGE₂/PGF₂α ratio. It is well tolerated up to 5 times the recommended dose for 2–3 times longer than those used for treatment.

Indications

Animals:

Relifen Vet is indicated for boosting immunity and body weight.

Dosage & Administration

Route of Administration: IM or IV

Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep & Goat: 1 ml (100 mg) per 33 kg of body weight IM or IV every 24 hours for up to 3 days.
Horse: 1 ml (100 mg) per 45 kg of body weight IV every 24 hours for up to 3 days.

Or as directed by a registered veterinary physician.

Side Effects

Toltrazuril is well tolerated at the recommended dose. However, at high dosages, egg-drop in laying hens, growth inhibition in broilers, and polyneuritis may be reported.

Pregnancy & Lactation

The effects of Ketoprofen on fertility, pregnancy, or foetal health of horses have not been determined. Ketoprofen injection should not be administered to pregnant mares. It may be given to pregnant and lactating cattle with caution.

Precautions & Warnings

Special care should be taken in case of severe dehydration, hypovolaemia and hypotension as there is a risk of renal toxicity. Sufficient drinking water must be supplied at all times during or after treatment.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool and dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
