FMD Vaccine
Composition
Antigen: Purified Inactivated Foot and Mouth Disease Virus containing three (03) serotypes appropriate to the region, Type O, Type A & Type Asia 1, Adjuvants: Aluminium hydroxide and saponin.
Indications
Livestock:
Aftovaxpur is indicated for the active immunization of cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goats against Foot and Mouth Disease.
Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: SC injection only. Shake well before use.
Cattle & Buffalo: 2 ml SC.
Sheep & Goat: 1 ml SC.
Vaccination Schedule:
Primary Course: Two injections, 3 to 4 weeks apart (starting at 2 weeks of age for unvaccinated dams or 2–5 months for vaccinated dams).
Boosters: Every 4–6 months depending on risk.
Side Effects
Vaccination may be followed by a small local swelling and/or slight pyrexia, both of short duration.
Precautions & Warnings
Vaccinate only healthy animals. Observe usual aseptic procedures. Once opened, bottles of vaccines should be used within 24 hours, provided they have been stored between +2°C and +8°C.
Storage Conditions
Store between +2°C and +8°C. Protect from the light. Do not freeze.
Withdrawal Period
Zero (0) days.
