Each ml contains Tranexamic Acid BP 100 mg.
Description
Tracid Vet contains tranexamic acid, a synthetic derivative of lysine that inhibits fibrinolysis by blocking the lysine-binding sites on plasminogen. By inhibiting both plasminogen activation and plasmin activity, it prevents the breakdown of existing blood clots rather than promoting the formation of new ones.
Indications
Livestock:
Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: For intramuscular, subcutaneous & intravenous administration.
Cattle & Horses: 1 ml/4-20 kg body weight (5-25 mg/kg body weight).
Dogs, Cats and Pigs: 1 ml/7-10 kg body weight (10-15 mg/kg) once or twice daily.
As an Emetic:
Dogs and Cats: 1 ml/4 kg body weight (25mg/kg) by rapid I.V injection.
Or, as Directed by the Veterinary Physician.
Interaction
With medicine: Tranexamic acid may interact with anticoagulants and NSAIDS that may increase risk of bleeding. No interaction known with feed or food.
Contraindications
Tranexamic acid is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity; allergic reactions may be reported.
Side Effects
Common side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, fever, muscle pain, joint pain, muscle stiffness, and weakness may be seen. Rare side effects: Tranexamic acid may cause a severe allergic reaction, including anaphylaxis.
Pregnancy & Lactation
There is no impaired fertility or adverse effect on the fetus.
Precautions & Warnings
Avoid infusion in hypersensitive animals. Tranexamic acid is not effective during massive bleeding.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
Meat: 2 days and Milk: duration not established.
