Description
Ciprofloxacin (Cipro-A Vet) is a second-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic with broad-spectrum bactericidal effects. Ciprofloxacin (Cipro-A Vet) inhibits bacterial DNA replication by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and thereby kills bacteria.

Interaction
With medicine: Ciprofloxacin may show a synergistic effect with aminoglycosides, 3rd generation cephalosporin & extended spectrum penicillin Ciprofloxacin may increase theophylline blood levels & warfarin effects. Nitrofurantoin may antagonize the antimicrobial activity of Ciprofloxacin. With food: Magnesium, Aluminium, Calcium, Iron & Zinc containing products decrease the gastrointestinal absorption of Ciprofloxacin.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in animals or birds hypersensitive to Ciprofloxacin.
Side Effects
Common: Anorexia and vomiting. Rare: Hypersensitivity reactions, crystalluria, dizziness, and CNS stimulation.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Ciprofloxacin should not be used in pregnant and lactating cows.
Precautions & Warnings
Ciprofloxacin has occasionally been reported to cause crystalluria, so animals should not be allowed to become dehydrated during therapy with Ciprofloxacin. Animals or birds with severe renal or hepatic impairment may require dosage adjustment to prevent drug accumulation.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
